Sparring with the Smart Meter


After a few months of bat­tling with the new smart meter that was installed on my house with­out my con­sent while I was away on vaca­tion dur­ing the sum­mer, I’ve noticed I get headaches when­ever I’m work­ing in the kitchen, which shares the same wall with the smart meter.

I’ve yet to begin the long jour­ney toward get­ting that blasted thing off my house, but in the mean­time, for every­one else out there who’s suf­fer­ing symp­toms of RF sen­si­tiv­ity and chronic ill­ness as a result of your smart meter, I feel your pain.

Today I’m going to start a series on Smart Meters based on my own per­sonal find­ings, and I’ll share with you what I learn as I go along.

The Smart Meter Invasion: Why You Should be Concerned


Many states have begun the mass roll-out of smart meter instal­la­tion in neigh­bor­hoods across the county. What is a smart meter? A smart meter is a meter installed by the elec­tric com­pany (or other util­ity com­pany) designed to record usage data to mon­i­tor peak usage times and cre­ate energy con­ser­va­tion by allow­ing users to use their appli­ances dur­ing off-peak times. Smart meters can then imple­ment dif­fer­ent rates for dif­fer­ent peak and off-peak usage times.
